What it is
Kvass Khlebny is a traditional Russian bread kvass brewed by Bryanskpivo — a brewery with deep roots in the Bryansk region. The name says it plainly: this is bread in a glass, a cool, slightly tart beverage that has been part of Russian summers for centuries.
Brewed using kvass wort concentrate made from rye flour and a blend of fermented and unfermented rye malt with barley malt, then naturally fermented for 72 hours. The result is a lightly sparkling drink with a mellow rye character, gentle sweetness, and a clean finish. Alcohol content is no more than 1.2% by volume — enough to give it depth, not enough to be an alcoholic drink.
