What it is
From Vigesta's premium «Gurmanu» («Gourmet») range — a whole boneless pork loin fillet, carefully trimmed, gently brined and then hot-smoked over hardwood at the Kaunas-area meat house. Hot smoking cooks the loin through to a juicy, rosy-pink centre while the smoke perfumes the lean meat with that warm, deep Baltic aroma. Sold as a single sliceable piece, vacuum-packed straight from the producer.
This is the kind of cold cut Lithuanian families keep in the fridge for the everyday rye sandwich — thinly sliced onto buttered dark bread with a smear of mustard and a slice of pickled cucumber.
