What it is
Capros aper — the boarfish, known in Lithuanian as aksominė saulabuvė (velvet sunfish) — is a small, disc-shaped fish caught wild from the depths of the North Atlantic. With its distinctive copper-orange scales and compact body, it is one of the lesser-known but nutritionally impressive species in the region.
Dried and salted to concentrate its naturally high protein and omega-3 content, boarfish is a satisfying snack with a clean, briny depth of flavour.
Eat straight from the pack as a high-protein snack, or pair with cold lager or kvass. The dried flesh pulls apart easily with fingers.
