What it is
Tumšais means “dark” in Latvian, and this is exactly that — a proper dark lager from Užavas Alus, a family-run brewery founded in 1994 in the village of Užava, Ventspils region, on the western coast of Latvia. The brewery chose its location for the exceptional local water quality.
At 4.9% ABV, it pours a deep reddish-brown with a roasted malt nose, caramel sweetness, and barely any bitterness on the finish — a smooth, satisfying dark beer brewed from just four ingredients: water, barley malt, hops, and yeast.
