What it is

Riga Black Balsam has been produced in Latvia since 1752 — one of the oldest herbal liqueurs in the world, made to a recipe that has remained largely unchanged for nearly three centuries. The Currant edition blends the original balsam's 24-botanical base with natural black currant juice concentrate, creating a drink that is simultaneously bitter, sweet, and tart. The characteristic dark clay bottle has become an icon of Latvian craft.

At 30% ABV, it is noticeably lighter than the original Black Balsam (45%) while still carrying the full aromatic weight of the herbal extraction. Serve neat over ice, lengthen with tonic or sparkling water, or use as a base in cocktails wherever a botanical bitter note is wanted.
