What they are
Rot Front (Рот Фронт) has been making confectionery in Moscow since 1826 — one of the oldest factories in Russia, today part of the United Confectioners group. «Золотой ключик» ("Golden Key") is one of their best-known classics: an iris-style soft milk toffee with a deep, condensed-milk caramel note.
Each piece is wrapped individually in the familiar zigzag fantik that has barely changed since Soviet days. The candy itself is chewy rather than hard, with a creamy, slightly buttery middle that softens between the teeth. Pour a handful into a bowl for guests, or keep them in a tin for a tea-break sweet.
Ingredients
Sugar, glucose syrup, sweetened condensed whole milk, vegetable fat (palm), butter (milk fat), emulsifier (soya lecithin), salt, vanillin.
