RUSSIA · КРАСНЫЙ ОКТЯБРЬ / RED OCTOBER · 210 g
What it is
Burevestnik — named after the petrel seabird — is one of the most recognisable sweets in the Russian confectionery tradition. Each piece is a small, oblong chocolate-glazed sweet with a smooth, lightly sweetened fondant centre flavoured with vanilla and cream.
Produced by Красный Октябрь (Red October), one of Moscow's oldest confectionery factories and part of the Объединённые Кондитеры (OK) group. These sweets have been made to the same recipe since Soviet times and remain a staple at celebrations and as an everyday treat.
Ingredients
Sugar, chocolate glaze (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter equivalent from refined deodorised fractionated non-hydrogenated vegetable oils (palm and shea), cocoa powder, emulsifiers: soy lecithin, E476, vanilla flavouring), sweetened condensed milk (whole milk, sugar), water, molasses, rectified ethyl alcohol, vanilla-cream flavouring.
