What it is
Amberfish is a Latvian producer specialising in Baltic fish preserves. These sprats ( Sprattus sprattus ) are smoked to draw out their natural oils, then packed in a robust tomato sauce made with real tomato paste, rapeseed oil, dried onions and aromatic spices. The result is a tin that delivers depth of flavour and satisfying protein in one compact format.
Serve straight from the tin on dark rye bread, alongside boiled potatoes, or as part of a Baltic-inspired spread.
