What it is
This is classic boiled condensed milk — sweetened whole milk slowly heat-treated in the tin until it turns thick, glossy and deeply caramel in colour and flavour. Rududu (with the friendly little bear on the can) is made by Marijampolės Pieno Konservai, the long-standing Lithuanian dairy that has been canning milk in Marijampolė since the 1970s.
The recipe is as plain as it gets — just milk and sugar, nothing else. Spoon it into coffee, layer it through a Muraveinik cake, sandwich it between waffle rolls or eclairs, drizzle it over pancakes and syrniki, or do the inevitable — open the tin and eat it straight with a spoon.
