What it is
The original style of sweetened condensed milk — thick, smooth, milky-white, and unmistakably sweet. This is the regular (not boiled) version, sold in the familiar blue-and-white ГОСТ-style tin that has been a staple in every dairy aisle east of the Elbe for decades.
Stir a generous spoonful into coffee or strong black tea, swirl through porridge, use as a quick filling for eclairs and waffle rolls, or layer through a homemade torte. You can also boil it down in the unopened tin (gently, fully submerged, top up the water) to make your own caramelised «varenka».
