What it is
This is classic varenka — sweetened whole milk gently caramelised in the tin until it turns thick, toffee-coloured and rich. Dovgan keeps the recipe simple, just milk and sugar, heat-treated the traditional way, with no flavourings or colours added.
Stir a spoonful into coffee, layer it through a Muraveinik cake, sandwich it between waffle rolls or eclairs, dollop it over warm syrniki, or build a quick banoffee at home. It also keeps its own beautifully on a slice of fresh white bread.
