What it is

Маска is one of the enduring Russian confectionery classics — small, rounded praline sweets enrobed in a smooth chocolate glaze. The name calls to mind the Venetian masquerade tradition, and the sweets themselves have a quiet, elegant character: a melt-in-the-mouth praline interior laced with cocoa and vanilla, wrapped in a thin, glossy coating.

Made by Rot-Front, one of Moscow's established confectionery factories, these are the kind of sweets that have been sold loose by the scoop at Russian confectionery counters for generations. Now available in a convenient 250 g bag.

Sugar, chocolate glaze (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter equivalent (refined fractionated vegetable oils: palm, shea), cocoa powder, emulsifiers: soy lecithin, E476, vanillin flavouring), cocoa butter replacer (partially hydrogenated palm oil, emulsifiers E492, soy lecithin, antioxidants: tocopherols, lemon acid concentrate), ground peanuts, whole milk powder, deodorised soy flour, cocoa powder, antioxidant: ascorbic acid, vanillin flavouring.
