What it is
Krekenavos Ekstra is a hot-smoked sausage produced by Krekenavos Agrofirma AB in Panevėžys district, central Lithuania. The Ekstra grade indicates a higher meat content — predominantly pork, with beef adding body and a firmer bite. The sausage is formed in a collagen casing and hot-smoked until the skin turns amber and the interior sets into a tight, sliceable cylinder.
Serve sliced cold on rye bread, as part of a meat platter, or alongside pickled vegetables. Holds its shape cleanly on the cutting board.
