What it is
Gamma-A has been producing canned fish in Riga since the 1990s, catching sprats from the Baltic Sea with their own fleet. This smoked sprats pate is made from whole sprats that are first smoked, then blended with vegetable oil and salt into a fine, spreadable paste.
The result is a clean, smoky pate with a noticeably fishy depth — nothing masked by cream or fillers. It spreads straight from the tin onto rye or dark bread, and pairs well with dill, pickled cucumber or a squeeze of lemon.
