Candy “Dream” — Rot Front Classic Caramel
A Soviet classic: soft lemon fondant wrapped in crisp white caramel
RUSSIA · ROT FRONT · 200 g
What it is
Mechta (Dream) is one of Rot Front’s best-loved hard caramels — a recipe unchanged since Soviet times. Each small white candy has a faintly ridged shell and a smooth, tangy filling of lemon fondant blended with fruit preserves.
The appeal is simple: the brittle caramel cracks to reveal a soft, slightly sour lemon centre that balances the sweetness of the shell. Sold loose by weight in Russia for generations, the 200 g pack brings a handful of nostalgia to any occasion.
Ingredients
Sugar, drinking water, molasses, lemon jam (lemon purée [lemons, preservative: potassium sorbate], apple purée [apples, preservative: sulphur dioxide], sugar), acidity regulator: citric acid, flavouring: lemon.
Typical recipe. Always check the printed pack for the current declaration.
