Cēsu Brūža Rudzugraudu — Rye Beer
A Latvian rye ale with the soul of kvass
LATVIA · CĒSU ALUS · 500 ml 4.2% alc.
What it is
Brūža Rudzugraudu is a rye ale brewed by Cēsu Alus — one of the oldest breweries in the Baltic region, with roots going back to 1590 in Cēsis, Latvia. The recipe centres on rye kvass malt, which gives the beer a deep, slightly sour character reminiscent of traditional kvass, balanced by a gentle bitterness from Magnum and Herkules hops.
At 4.2% ABV and a low 18 IBU, this is an approachable, session-strength beer. Its rye-grain backbone makes it a natural companion to dark rye bread, pickles, and smoked fish.
