What it is
Oladji are a staple of Russian home cooking — small, thick pancakes with a soft, airy centre and a lightly crisped edge. This mix from Bake House (Печем Дома) takes the measuring out of the equation. Just add warm milk and a splash of vegetable oil, stir to a smooth batter, and pan-fry until golden. A generous batch in under 20 minutes. Serve warm with soured cream, jam, or a drizzle of honey.
How to prepare
Empty the 250 g pack into a bowl. Add 250 ml warm milk (about 40°C) and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Mix to a smooth batter. Drop heaped spoonfuls onto a lightly oiled hot pan and fry 2–3 minutes per side over medium heat until golden brown. Makes roughly 20–22 oladji.
