Valdo — Buckwheat in Cook-in Bags (Griķi)
Latvian buckwheat in eight generous portion bags — the family-size box for the busy weeknight.
LATVIA · VALDO · 8 × 125 g
What it is
Same Latvian griķi as Valdo's loose 1 kg pack, just portioned into eight food-grade boil-in-bag pouches at the larger 125 g size — enough for two normal portions per bag, or one really hungry one. Eight bags in the box means a kilo of buckwheat without a measuring cup in sight.
Same kilned brown grain that's the foundation of Baltic and Eastern European cooking — naturally gluten-free, slow-burning energy, deeply nostalgic toasty flavour. Drop a bag into salted boiling water, walk away, lift out when done.
How to cook
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil — at least 1.5 litres per bag (these are bigger than the standard 80 g pouches). Drop in 1 bag and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes, until the grain is tender. Lift out by the paper tab, snip the corner with scissors, and tip the cooked buckwheat into a bowl. Stir in a generous knob of butter and serve.
Composition
100% buckwheat groats (griķi / гречневая крупа ядрица). Single ingredient, nothing added.
Per manufacturer (Valdo, Latvia). Cooking bags are food-safe and discarded after use.
