Valdo — Buckwheat in Cook-in Bags (Griķi)
Latvian buckwheat in four generous portion bags — heartier servings, less measuring.
LATVIA · VALDO · 4 × 125 g
What it is
Same Latvian griķi as Valdo's loose 1 kg pack — kilned brown buckwheat groats, the everyday foundation grain of Baltic and Eastern European cooking — just portioned into four food-grade boil-in-bag pouches. The 125 g size is on the bigger side: enough for two normal portions on a side plate, or one really hungry person.
The bag format takes the measuring out of cooking buckwheat, and the pan stays clean. Drop into salted boiling water, walk away, lift out when done.
How to cook
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil — at least 1.5 litres per bag (these are bigger than the standard 80 g pouches). Drop in 1 bag and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes, until the grain is tender. Lift each bag out by the paper tab, snip the corner with scissors, and tip the cooked buckwheat into a bowl. Stir in a generous knob of butter and serve.
Composition
100% buckwheat groats (griķi / гречневая крупа ядрица). Single ingredient, nothing added.
Per manufacturer (Valdo, Latvia). Cooking bags are food-safe and discarded after use.
