What it is

A podstakannik — literally «under the glass» in Russian — is a metal holder designed to cradle a hot glass of tea. Born from the practicality of Russian railway journeys, where piping-hot glasses of tea were served in moving carriages, the podstakannik became one of the most recognisable objects in Eastern European household culture. How to use
