Tarragon Syrup 300g
The syrup behind the iconic bright-green Soviet lemonade
RUSSIA · TARHUN SYRUP · 300 g
What it is
Tarhun is Russia's best-known herb syrup — a concentrated sweet cordial made from tarragon extract and sugar, bottled as a vivid emerald green liquid. Mixed with chilled sparkling water it becomes the classic Tarhun lemonade that has been a fixture at Soviet and post-Soviet summer celebrations for decades.
One 300 g bottle makes several litres of finished drink. Use it straight as a cordial (dilute roughly 1 part syrup to 4–6 parts sparkling water), drizzle it over ice cream, or add a splash to cocktails and mocktails for a herbal, gently anise-like sweetness.
Ingredients
Water, sugar, citric acid (E330), tarragon flavouring, preservative (potassium sorbate E202), colourings (tartrazine E102, brilliant blue FCF E133).
