What it is
Batonchiki from Rot Front are among the most recognisable confectionery in the post-Soviet world. Each piece is a slim, two-coloured cylinder — pale praline on one side, darker cocoa layer on the other — made without glaze, letting the texture speak for itself.
The filling is built around ground peanuts and broken wafer crumbs, bound with a creamy mixture of whole milk powder, dry cream and a touch of cognac. The chocolate-cream flavour is delivered by cocoa powder and gentle flavorings, giving a soft, yielding bite with a satisfying density.
Ingredients
Sugar, cocoa-butter substitute (partially hydrogenated palm and rapeseed oils; antioxidants: citric acid, tocopherols; sunflower lecithin), ground peanuts, broken wafer crumbs (wheat flour, sunflower oil, dry egg melange, soy lecithin, salt, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid), deodorised soy flour, whole milk powder, cocoa powder, dry cream, cognac, natural flavorings ("Milk", "Chocolate"), ascorbic acid.
