What it is
DELUX is the premium-grade marking carried on this large 525g family tin of stewed pork, sized not for a single serving but for a proper hot dinner for the whole household. Inside the tin you find selected cuts of pork shoulder and lean meat, packed tight and slow-simmered in their own rendered fat and juices until the fibres start to fall apart under the gentle pressure of a fork. The cold tin always carries a cap of fragrant set fat on top, a tell-tale sign of honest tushenka; warm the can and that cap melts into a deep golden gravy that soaks straight into potatoes or grains. Salt, bay leaf and ground black pepper, and nothing else: no soya, no thickeners, no flavourings and no colourings in sight. An ideal product for the dacha, for hunting trips, for long drives and for ordinary weekday suppers when you want to put something genuine and filling on the table fast.
