What it is
DE LUX is VIVAT’s premium tier of tushenka, packed in a large 525g family tin built to feed a hungry table. Inside you find proper chunks of selected pork, slow-simmered in their own rendered juices until the meat is so tender it falls into ribbons without a knife. A cap of fragrant set fat sits on top — warm the can and it melts into a deep golden gravy that bastes everything it touches. Salt, bay leaf and black pepper, the classic Soviet canteen recipe, with no soya, no thickeners and no colourings. Tip the tin into a hot pan or straight onto a pot of floury potatoes, buckwheat or pasta and you have a serious hot meal in five minutes flat.
