What it is

Klasikinis Saliamis — literally «classic salami» — is one of Biovela’s flagship cold-smoked dry-cured sausages from Lithuania. The pork and lardons are chopped very finely, so a cut slice reveals a monolithic pattern of lean meat with evenly distributed flecks of fat, no large mosaic. Seasoned with a quiet, balanced mix of natural spices, the sausage is cold-smoked, then matured to develop the firm, slightly chewy bite and deep cured aroma that define the Baltic salami tradition.

Slice it thinly across the stick. It is the classic addition to a board of rye bread, gherkins, mustard and a cold beer; it lifts a plain butter sandwich into a proper open-faced buterbrod; and it disappears into a thick slice of pizza or a pasta with onions and a glass of red.
