What it is
Smoked chicken thighs from RGK — rich, dark thigh meat that holds its juiciness far better than breast through the smoking process. The thighs are lightly cured, then hot-smoked over hardwood until the skin turns a deep amber and the meat is fully cooked, aromatic and ready to eat straight from the pack. (The English pack name reads “hips” — a direct translation of the Russian «бëдра»; the correct anatomical term is “thighs”.)
RGK is one of Latvia’s established poultry producers, specialising in chicken cuts, smoked products and convenient ready-to-eat lines. Slice the thighs cold for a sandwich or salad, warm them briefly in the oven to crisp the skin, or shred the meat into solyanka, hodgepodge and rice dishes.
