What it is
Salo buterbrodnoe (“sandwich salo”) is the soft, spreadable cousin of the firm sliceable slab: salt-cured pork backfat is rendered or finely whipped to a creamy texture, then blended with fresh garlic. The result spreads easily, like a savoury butter, but carries the deeper pork-fat flavour and garlic warmth of traditional salo.
RGK is a long-established Lithuanian meat producer. Spread thick on dark rye, on toasted village bread, on hot baked potatoes; melt into a hot mushroom or cabbage filling for a quick, deep flavour boost.
