What it is
Korean-style carrots (morkov po-koreijski) is one of the most recognisable salads of post-Soviet cuisine. Brought to Central Asia by Korean Koryo-saram communities and quickly adopted across the entire region, it is defined by a bold combination of sharp vinegar, warm coriander, fragrant garlic and a gentle chilli heat. This ready-to-use spice mix reproduces that balance precisely, so you can recreate the authentic taste at home in minutes.
Grate 500g of raw carrots into fine julienne strips. Heat 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil and pour it over the carrots. Add 2 tablespoons of white wine or apple cider vinegar, sprinkle the spice mix over and toss thoroughly. Leave to marinate for at least 1 hour — overnight in the fridge gives the best result.
