What it is
Kindzmarauli is a protected designation of origin (PDO) red wine from the Kindzmarauli micro-zone in the Kvareli municipality of Kakheti, Georgia's foremost wine region. Made from 100% Saperavi grapes, it is naturally semi-sweet — the sweetness results from carefully arrested fermentation, with no added sugar.
Shumi Winery, founded in 2001 in Tsinandali village, Kakheti, is one of Georgia's respected producers of regional varietals. Their 2018 Kindzmarauli shows deep ruby colour with violet hues, aromas of ripe blackberry and barberry, a full body with light velvety tannins, and a long fruit-driven finish.
