What it is
Žalgiris Honey Balsam takes its name from the Battle of Žalgiris (Grunwald, 1410) — one of the great turning points of Baltic history. Produced since 1968 by JSC Lietuviškas Midus, it is made from quadruple-distilled mead spirit enriched with cranberry juice, a proprietary selection of Lithuanian herbs, and honey. The full production cycle spans approximately two years.
At 75% ABV, Žalgiris stands among the strongest commercially available balsams in the world. It is not a casual pour — it is a concentrated spirit with deep herbal character, intended to be sipped in small measures as a digestif or diluted with water or ice.
