What they are
Russian/Ukrainian пряники are not hard British gingerbread — they are soft, pillowy round cookies coated in a thin sugar glaze. The dough is gently spiced and barely sweet inside; the white glaze on top is where the sweetness lives.
Vanilla is the everyday version: warm, milky, no spice heat. The one that goes into every lunchbox.
