Fried Pies with Cabbage
Golden, pan-fried pastry filled with tender, slow-stewed cabbage
PAN-FRIED · CABBAGE FILLING · SOLD PER PIECE (1 PC)
What it is
These fried pies — known across Eastern Europe as pirozhki — are small parcels of soft yeast dough, pan-fried until deep golden and crisp outside, warm and tender within. They're one of the most familiar snacks of the region, equally at home on a market stall or a family table.
Inside is a generous spoonful of finely shredded cabbage, gently stewed with onion until sweet and soft — a filling loved across generations. Sold individually (1 pc), they make an easy snack on the go or a warming addition to a bowl of soup.
Dough & filling
The dough is a soft, lightly enriched yeast dough — wheat flour, water or milk, eggs, a touch of sugar and oil. Rounds of dough are filled with the stewed cabbage mixture, sealed at the edges, and shallow-fried in oil until golden on both sides.
