What it is
Tarhun is one of the most recognisable soft drinks of the former Soviet Union — a strongly carbonated lemonade flavoured with tarragon, the aromatic herb behind its fresh, faintly anise-like note and famous emerald colour. First mixed in Georgia in the late 19th century, it has been a warm-weather staple across Eastern Europe ever since.
This version is bottled under the Estel (Эстель) label found in Eastern-European food shops across Europe. It delivers the classic profile — sweet up front, herbal through the middle, with a clean citrus finish — and the 1.5L bottle is the sharing size: enough for the table, with some left for the fridge door.
