What it is
Doshirak is the noodle that defined a generation of Russian quick lunches. This tray format — slimmer than a mug, sturdier than a cup — fits neatly on a desk or in a bag and comes with its own plastic fork. Pour boiling water to the marked line, seal the lid, and wait three minutes. The result: a savoury beef-and-veal broth with springy wheat noodles, a scatter of dried vegetables, and that instantly recognisable seasoning hit.
The broth draws on a beef base layered with red pepper, soy sauce, and garlic; the dried mix adds textured soy protein, carrot, onion, and a small amount of kamaboko (fish cake) for depth.
Ingredients
Noodles: wheat flour, vegetable oil, modified potato starch, salt, soy-based emulsifier, wheat gluten, stabiliser premix, seasoning blend, dried laminaria, dried onion. Beef broth seasoning: red pepper, soy sauce, milk whey powder, vegetable broth powder, garlic, soy paste, beef broth powder, spices, salt, monosodium glutamate (E621), sugar, glucose.
