What it is

Kapotinė (from Lithuanian kapoti — to chop) is one of Lithuania’s oldest cured-sausage traditions. Coarsely chopped pork is seasoned with garlic and black pepper, filled into a natural casing, then cold-smoked and allowed to dry-cure until the texture firms and the flavour deepens. The result is a dense, mahogany-coloured sausage with a pronounced smokiness and a clean, savoury finish.

Produced by DELIKATESAS — a Lithuanian charcuterie maker — Kapotinė follows the same method used for generations, with no artificial flavourings. At 220 g it suits a charcuterie board or slices neatly onto dark rye bread.

Pork, water, salt, spices (black pepper, garlic), sugar, lactic acid starter cultures, antioxidant (sodium ascorbate E301), preservative (sodium nitrite E250). Natural pork casing.
