What it is
Chicken gyros (vistas giross) is the Baltic take on the shawarma-stack format — chicken meat marinated in a savoury spice mix, layered and cooked through, then sliced thin like deli meat. The result is fully cooked, fragrant slices with a gentle warmth from paprika and garlic, ready to eat straight from the pack.
Nakotne (Nākotne) is a Latvian poultry specialist based near Jelgava, repeatedly named Product of the Year by the Latvian Traders Association. Pile the slices into a pita or tortilla with tzatziki and tomato, layer them on rye with lettuce and mustard, fold them into a wrap with garlic sauce, or toss into a quick salad bowl with cucumber, olives and feta.
