What it is
Voruta is a wine-based berry drink made from blackcurrant juice concentrate and natural spices, produced by AB MV Group Production at the Anykščiai winery in Lithuania. At 8.5% ABV, it sits between a light wine and a fruit liqueur — fuller than a fruit wine yet softer than a spirit.
The aroma is pronounced blackcurrant with a background of dried herbs. On the palate it is round and moderately sweet, with thyme and lemongrass spice emerging gently in the finish. Best served slightly chilled, on its own or over ice.
