What it is

A traditional Lithuanian dry sausage from the Bernų line — coarsely chopped pork and beef seasoned with pepper and herbs, then dried for roughly two months in natural casings until the slice firms up and the fat goes translucent. The Edible Boletus version mixes in dried Boletus edulis — the same earthy white mushroom Eastern European cooks dry for winter soups — so each round carries a deep, slightly nutty forest note alongside the cured meat.

It earned Biovela a Nielsen «Most Successful New Product» award in 2010 and a gold medal at Prodexpo Moscow the following year, and it has stayed in the range ever since. Slice it thin onto a wooden board with rye bread, sharp cheese, pickles and dark beer; chop a few rounds into scrambled eggs or a mushroom risotto when you want the boletus flavour to do the heavy lifting.
