What it is
Bauskas Tumšais is a dark lager from Bauskas Alus, a brewery that has been operating in Bauska, Latvia since 1981. Tumšais — the Latvian word for dark — is one of the brewery's two original beers, brewed here since 1982.
The beer is fermented in open tanks, then transferred to cellars where a slow, 42–45-day cold conditioning cycle develops its deep amber-brown colour, malt-forward aroma, and a gentle hint of dark fruit. No artificial preservatives are added at any stage.
