What it is
Riga Gold Atlantic Mackerel in Tomato Sauce is made from whole pieces of Atlantic mackerel, gently cooked and preserved in a savoury tomato sauce seasoned with spices. A staple of Eastern European pantries, it works equally well as a quick lunch on rye bread or as a base for a warming fish soup.
Serve cold straight from the tin on dark rye bread, or heat gently and serve over boiled potatoes. Also excellent stirred into borsch or fish solyanka.
Best enjoyed with pickles and a slice of dark rye.

Atlantic mackerel ( Scomber scombrus ), tomato paste, water, onion, sunflower oil, sugar, salt, wheat flour, acetic acid (E260), spices (allspice, black pepper, cloves, coriander, bay leaf).
