What it is
Kagor Cerkiewne is a Moldovan dessert-style red wine produced according to old church recipes. Its name reflects the centuries-old tradition of using this style of wine in Orthodox religious ceremonies — the word Cerkiewne meaning ecclesiastical. The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and the local Bastardo-Magaricheskiy variety, giving it a deep ruby colour with a velvety, full-bodied character.
On the nose and palate: ripe dark plums and a distinct note of dark chocolate, supported by gentle natural sweetness. Serve lightly chilled at 14–16 °C alongside fruit desserts, dark chocolate, or sweet pastries.
