Georgian Sun Mtsvane Amber Wine
A skin-fermented amber from Kakheti — ancient tradition, vivid character
GEORGIA · GEORGIAN SUN · 0.75 L · 12.5% ABV
What it is
Mtsvane — meaning “green” in Georgian — is a white grape native to the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia, prized for its bright acidity and aromatic depth. This amber expression is made using the traditional qvevri method: the juice ferments on skins for around six months in clay vessels buried in the earth, then rests in temperature-controlled stainless tanks until bottling.
The result is a wine with an intensive amber-to-tawny colour, aromas of quince, apricot, and dried stone fruit, and a lingering softly tannic finish. Unfiltered and made with natural yeast, it is as close to ancient Georgian winemaking as you will find on a UK shelf.
Composition
100% Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes, natural yeast fermentation, unfiltered. No additives beyond bentonite fining and minimal sulphur dioxide (≤ 25 mg/l free SO₂). Residual sugar: 4 g/l (medium dry).
Typical composition for this producer and style; check bottle label for the specific vintage.
