"Legend of Kyiv" Cake with Peanuts

Tarta's tribute to the classic Kyiv Cake — meringue, peanuts, buttercream, chocolate piping.

What it is

Tarta's "Легенда Києва" is an affectionate nod to Roshen's iconic Kyiv Cake — the same airy construction, but built around roasted peanut kernels (13.4%) instead of cashews or hazelnuts. Two crisp meringue layers studded with chopped peanuts, between them a generous "Charlotte" buttercream made on sweetened condensed milk, brandy and dessert wine.

The top is finished in the traditional Kyiv Cake style — chocolate-piping rosettes, pastel chestnut leaves, and a small ruby spot of marmalade jelly; the sides are crusted with more chopped peanuts. Sold frozen — defrost in the fridge for 4–6 hours before serving with strong coffee or black tea.

Sugar, butter (milk), egg white, roasted peanut kernels (13.4%), sweetened condensed milk, wheat flour, powdered sugar, glucose syrup, fat-reduced cocoa powder, brandy, gelatine, dessert wine, vanilla essence, orange flavouring, citric acid, preservative (sorbic acid), natural colourings (carmine, turmeric), synthetic colouring (brilliant blue).

Keep frozen at −18 °C. Defrost in the fridge for 4–6 hours before serving; once defrosted use within 24 hours and do not refreeze.
