What it is
A single-serve marzipan bar from Laima, the confectionery house that's been working in Rīga since 1870. Finely ground almonds (no less than 19%) are kneaded with sugar, a little cocoa mass and a touch of brandy, then the whole soft, fragrant centre is dipped in a thin shell of dark chocolate.
The format is the point: 40 g is enough for one cup of strong black coffee, or a small glass of sweet wine after dinner — more of a one-bar pause than a snack. Cut it across into rounds if you'd like to share.
Ingredients
Sugar, almonds (19%), dry skimmed milk, cocoa mass, water, glucose syrup, cocoa butter, alcohol, brandy, emulsifier: soy lecithin; stabiliser: invertase; flavourings.
