What it is
Maslyuk — known in Russian as масляная рыба — is a rich, deep-sea fish prized for its dense, buttery flesh. Cold smoking at low temperature preserves the natural oils and gives the fillet a delicate smoky character without drying it out.
The fillet is ready to eat straight from the pack. Serve thinly sliced on dark rye bread, alongside boiled potatoes, or as part of a fish platter.
