What it is
Whole Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) cured in a classic Baltic spiced brine — salt, sugar and a blend of aromatic spices including bay leaf, allspice and coriander. The brine slowly penetrates the flesh over several days, giving the fish a lightly salted, pleasantly spiced character.
A 1.3 kg tub is ideal for sharing or for use as a base for traditional herring salads, forshmak and Baltic-style open sandwiches. Ready to fillet and serve, or to marinate further in your preferred dressing.
