What it is
Trauktinė Dainava is a traditional Lithuanian bitter liqueur, named after Dainava — a historic forested region in southern Lithuania. Produced by Stumbras, the Kaunas-based distillery with a lineage stretching back to the early 20th century, Dainava has been in continuous production since the 1960s and carries EU Protected Geographical Indication status.
The liqueur is built on a grain spirit base, infused with the natural juices of five Baltic fruits: apple, rowanberry, cherry, cranberry, and blueberry. The result is a deep amber-red colour, a richly fruity aroma, and a bittersweet flavour with a gentle tartness that lingers on the palate. Serve neat, chilled, or over ice; it also pairs well with grapefruit juice.
