What it is

Baltais Exporta is a traditional Latvian sweet-cream butter at 82,5% milk fat — the level that gives it that proper, dense, mineral-rich taste that supermarket spreads can’t fake. Produced by Tukuma Piens, part of the Food Union group.

Use it the way a Baltic kitchen does: on warm dark rye bread with salt, melted into boiled potatoes with dill, layered into pastry doughs, or as a finishing knob on a hot porridge. The flavour is rich enough to carry the dish on its own.

Ingredients

Pasteurised cream (from cow’s milk).
