What it is
A rich, hearty borsch made in the traditional Ukrainian style: sweet beetroot, tender cabbage, soft potatoes and carrots simmered together in a deep crimson broth. What makes this version distinctive is the addition of dried porcini mushrooms (боровики / Boletus edulis), which lend an earthy, woodsy depth that takes the classic recipe somewhere special. Produced and sterilised at source, the jar holds a fully cooked soup — just warm through on the hob or in a pan and it is ready to eat.
