Biscuits «Spolīte», 200 g
Little rolled yeast biscuits with a fruit filling and a dusting of icing sugar, baked in Daugavpils.
LATVIA · DVINSKA PLUS · 200 G
What they are
Spolīte is Latvian for "little spool", which is just what these biscuits look like. Dvinska Plus, a small bakery in Daugavpils, rolls a soft, slightly flaky yeast dough around a spoonful of fruit filling, bakes the rolls until golden and finishes them with icing sugar. Each one is a couple of bites: tender pastry outside, a little jammy sweetness in the middle.
They are at their best with a cup of tea or coffee, and they make an easy addition to a lunchbox or a plate of biscuits for guests. If you like them a little softer and warmer, a few seconds in a warm oven brings back the just-baked feel.
Ingredients
Wheat flour, margarine (vegetable oils and fats: palm, rapeseed, partially hydrogenated palm oil), water, fruit filling (jam), sugar, eggs, milk, yeast, salt, emulsifier, preservative (sorbic acid E200), acidity regulator.
